Unfortunately, due to Gary Booker's death, I have rediscovered Procol Harum. What a great progressive band!

Awesome! One of my favorite Brit bands. Gary B sounds great on piano and voice. He sang a great song Let There Be Light on Ian MacDonald's album Driver's Eyes. Really great song and great album. Thanx Brett for the enhanced audio and video.

Thanks for sharing this great qualiry recording. Being a drummer I, of course, love B.J. Wilsons unique drumming enriching every Procol tune. But Chris Copping on organ is also great...

I saw them perform live twice in 1969. They were arguably one of the best live bands to ever grace the stage. And by that time I had seen everyone from the Beatles to the Stones, LZ, Cream, and the list goes on. But PH were in a class by themselves. They had the perfect blend of talent, creativity, instrumentation that was used to perfection, and the voice of Gary. I have also seen them twice in this century and though they had only Gary from the original lineup, they were still holding their own. I am fortunate to have seen them in their prime and those shows are unforgettable.

Remarkable ! My first date girlfriend, Cheri, who became my wife in 1969 saw them in San Francisco. I think in mid June 1968 I am 84 years old now but remember it is clear as any concert I was ever at. The second Band was Santana even 6:09 before they released their first album. The venue I think was called the Avalon ballroom off market Street in S.F. The last song, “in held ‘twas in i” was unlike anything musically I had ever heard before. As I recall, Santana’s band came back after Procol harum had done their hour plus, Then Procol came back for onemore encore after Santana. It was incredible.

Brooker, in addition to vocals and the piano, was also proficient in the organ, trombone, cornet, piano accordion and Bengal flute per Wikipedia

What a great song. Fantastic band, superb singer, almost better than Janis (purer tone, less rasp). There certainly was a lot of superior music being made in the late 1960s.

I was blessed to see Procol Harum in the early 1970's at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, and will NEVER forget that glorious concert, especially BJ Wilson's drumming!!!
